For halloween 2010 we wanted Large Jacobs ladder for the sound and light show that it produces. The results were pretty cool, very bright, and sounds scary. This will be connected to DMX relay for use in the show, will be programmed to turn on when needed.
The supplies you will need for this is:
-2 pieces of solid copper wire (about 3 foot each)
-Assorted Nuts and bolts
-3 sections of wood to make the base
-15 Kv 30ma Neon sigh transformer
-plug
-platic coating for copper wire
-plastic tube to cover the spark.
-wire nuts
All you need to do is connect one lead to each of the two pieces of copper wire and plug the transformer in. You will need to adjust your gap a few times to get it to climb right.
The Transformer was able to start the gap at about a 1/4" space at the base of the ladder and spreads up to about an 1" at the top. We added a section of tubing to keep the wind from blowing the spark out.
This performed perfectly all night on halloween.
