Simple DMX Terminator/Tester

This is a very simple and quick tester and terminator for DMX data chains

The parts that are needed:
A Male XLR connector
2 x 270 ohm 1/2 watt resistors
1 x bi-color LED
A Soldering iron
piece of heat shrink tubing
The drawing below gives all the details needed to make this terminator. it uses two resistors (270 ohms each) and one bi color led. The resistor that shorts pins 2 and 3 makes this act as a terminator. The resistor from pin 2 and the bi-color led going to pins 2 and 3 makes it a tester that can show that a dmx signal is moving. It will not tell you if the data is valid just that it is present.
This tester is very cheap to make and shouldn't take more then 10 minutes to put together. You should be able to make it for about 4 dollars, less if you have parts bin.

Since I bought a second DMX interface for my computer, I needed to make an additional terminator. I ordered parts in bulk, so i made 2 DMX terminators this time, since it only takes a few minutes each, when they flash it will be red and blue and should merge to purple when the signal is moving.
